Lupita’s Guilty Pleasure: The Real Househelps of Kawangware

“#cantgetenough”

That’s how Lupita captioned an Instagram post yesterday, in which she professed her love for Kenyan grassroots reality TV show “The Real Househelps of Kawangware.”

The series, which is up to 77 episodes, is written almost exclusively in Swahili and follows the four househelps Awiti, Kalekye, Njambi and Trufena as they go about their daily routines in one of Nairobi’s largest slums.

The show airs every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on local TV station KTN. With Lupita mentioning the series in an Instagram post (which gained over 12,000 likes within one day), the actors and producers of the show can revel in the fact that a lot more people will most likely start tuning in on Wednesday evenings. If you haven’t already, check out the series’ YouTube channel here.
