Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has announced the release of her children’s book “Sulwe”.
The actress, who has been secretly hard at work on her first children’s book for quite some time, took to social media to premiere the cover of the book.
The book aims at encouraging kids to love themselves.
“I wrote a book! It’s called #Sulwe! This is the cover I’m thrilled to share it with you. Sulwe is out October 1 and is available for pre-order today at the link in bio!” wrote Nyong’o.
“I wrote #Sulwe to encourage children (and everyone really!) to love the skin that they re in and see the beauty that radiates from within.”
The book was first announced in 2018 when Lupita revealed the name, a Luo word meaning “star”.
It tells the story of a young girl growing up in Kenya who has the darkest skin color of all her family and is determined to find a way to lighten her skin.
She embarks on an exciting adventure in the night sky coupled with advice from her mother which helps her see beauty differently.
Sulwewill be out on October 1!
