The 9th Annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) is just two months away and the organisers are urging interested parties to submit their projects by June 30, 2018, which is the official entry deadline.
Based in California’s Silicon Valley, SVAFF is one of the best — and only film festival in the state that focuses on films made by African filmmakers — that celebrates the African culture as a whole.
The awards categories include: Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary full length, Documentary Short length and Animation. The Special Awards are Emerging Filmmaker, Award, Maverick Spirit Award, Africa Reel Award and Diaspora Spotlight Award.
The Kenyan film industry has seen a recent spike, especially after several international recognition. SVAFF will give yet another platform for Kenyan filmmakers and actors to showcase their creativity to the world and maybe prove they can be major players in the international movie space.
The festival has released the official guidelines that should be observed before submitting any project. The rules can be accessed HERE.
