Three Kenyan women have been declared winners at the recently concluded Ladies in Media Awards (LIM) ceremony. The awards ceremony took place in Nairobi on Saturday and recognized the achievements of women in the Kenyan media industry.
The winners were announced following their nomination in February, where they emerged victorious over seven other nominees in their respective categories. Among the nominees were prominent media personalities such as Janet Mbugua, Wanjira Longauer, and Melissa Kiplagat.
The three triumphant women are actress Kate Kamau, who received the Female Actor of the Year award, Swahili Prime-Time News Anchor Fridah Mwaka, who was declared the Female News Anchor of the Year, and radio personality Maria Makau, who was named the Female Radio Personality of the Year.
The LIM Awards aim to celebrate women’s outstanding contributions to the media industry and highlight their invaluable impact on society.
The winners’ accomplishments demonstrate that women in media are breaking barriers and making a remarkable impact in their respective fields.
In her acceptance speech, Kate Kamau expressed her gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of more representation of women in the media industry.
Kate Kamau thanked the LIM organisers and her fans for the honour.
