La La Anthony To Co-Produce Lupita’s Broadway Debut

Expect even more spotlight on Lupita.

American actress, radio personality and best-selling author Alani Nicole Anthony — better known as La La — announced in a Jan. 20 Deadline Magazine interview that she’ll be co-producing Lupita’s Broadway debut, “Eclipsed.”

“I am so thrilled to be joining a production filled with such powerful, talented women,” Anthony told the magazine. “Eclipsed is a stunning new play that demands to be seen, and to make my Broadway debut as a producer with it is an honor.”

Anthony, married to New York Knicks power forward Carmelo Anthony, said that she’s particularly excited about becoming a part of the production’s effort to bring thousands of disadvantaged young women to see the show for free through its “10,000 Girls” campaign.

“What an extraordinary opportunity to pave the way for the next generation of commanding young women,” she said.

“Eclipsed,” set in the violent chaos of the Liberian civil war, is slated to start running previews at the John Golden Theatre on Feb. 23 and will open officially on March 6 with a limited run through June 19.
