King Khaligraph is stepping up his efforts to stay on everyone’s mind this year. This is by releasing new music in a calculated amount of space to ensure airplay and shows.
Khaligraph recently announced that his debut album ‘Testimony 1990’ will be dropping June 12th and promises to showcase a different side of his art that we are not familiar with.
This morning, Khali dropped the first single titled ‘Now You Know’. I actually thought it was a remix to Nyashinski’s ‘Now You know’ but I digress. The Hip Hop tune with retro kick and snare is produced by Jack Jack On The Beat for Blu Ink Records.
I’d say after a few listens, Khaligraph did come through with some dope verses on the record. A new name, Rostam, is featured on verse 1&3 and the dude’s spitting some incredible Swahili tales and bars. Picture this: ‘Mi MKatoliki nalindwa na damu ya Kristo leo Papa Jones umekutana na Papa Benedicto so karoge Kisumu nikaroge Mombasa na ujue mimba ni sumu mheshimu mgumba na tasa…. Usidownload Pornograph kwa Wifi Ya Msikiti…’.
Khaligraph delivers a dope chorus which easily sticks to the mind. All the three acts ride and flow with ease and finesse making the jam listenable and likeable. If this is the precursor of the album then I am ready for the whole project to drop.
