Rapper Khaligraph is shining bright once again after bagging the MTN Uganda Hip-Hop Award for East African Artist of The Year 2021. The Punguza Kasheshe Hitmaker shared the great news on Instagram stating “Thank You @mtnug THE OG HAS BEEN RESPECTED….”
The comment section was filled with hearty congratulatory messages from fans who acknowledged that Khaligraph was deserving of this award. This was the 5th edition of the annual award show that seeks to celebrate Hip Hop talent in Uganda and the East Africa as a whole.
Nominated for his hit Tuma Kitu, Khaligraph was in a highly contested category as the East African Artist of The Year category nominees also included Tanzania’s Joh Makini for his song Dangerous, Nyashinski for Lift Me Up, Femi One for Utawezana and King Kaka for Wajinga Nyinyi.

Khaligraph is currently one of Africa’s Hip-Hop heavyweights. His illustrious music career has earned him various coveted awards such as AFRIMA and Soundcity MVP just to mention a few. Last year he got global recognition through his BET Award nomination in the Best International Rap Flow Category where he was nominated alongside South Africa’s Nasty C, Brazil’s Djonga, France’s Kaaris and Meryl and UK’s Ms Banks and Stormzy.
