The climate change campaign ‘WE!Are Africa Unmuted’ is back, bigger and bolder. This is the second installment of the afro-centric climate and social justice campaign. In partnership with Crtve Development, the campaign highlights Africa’s incredible resilience in the face of climate change and social challenges. It is a celebration of creativity, strength, and the unwavering spirit of African communities, especially those living in climate-vulnerable areas.
In light of that, ‘WE!Are Africa Unmuted’ is calling on Kenyan creative hubs to apply and participate in the campaign. With the aim of addressing climate and social injustice in Africa, this campaign is targeting both physical and creative hubs. The hubs could be a theater, an art studio, a coworking space, a digital platform, or anything that fosters creativity and connections.
According to the project lead Martin Welsh, this ‘WE!Are Africa Unmuted’ is on the lookout for fresh voices, and visionary thinkers who can inspire a positive transformation towards a more sustainable Africa. Shortlisted hubs will be eligible to contest for the $10,000 grant available to further develop their hubs.
To participate, interested hubs must submit their proposal in any format to email@example.com with the subject line ‘WE!ARE Application 2023.’ The submissions must be made before the 13th October 2023 midnight deadline. Additionally, they must demonstrate the hub’s ability to use creativity, innovation, and storytelling to drive positive change on climate issues. Find more details on how to apply at the ‘WE!Are Africa Unmuted’ website.
After submission, shortlisted hubs will be contacted during the week of 16th October 2023. After which, winners will be announced during the following week. Apart from the cash grant, the winning hub will also have the opportunity to engage in capacity-building workshops to enhance their concepts and expand their network connections.
