Kenya’s First Showmax Original ‘Crime and Justice’ Confirmed for season 2

Kenya’s first Showmax Original Series; ‘Crime and Justice’ is set to return in 2022.

Sharing the news on Twitter; Showmax Kenya posted;

“Makena and Silas aren’t done. Crime and Justice returns for season 2 in 2022 starring Sarah Hassan and Alfred Munyua.”

Crime and Justice is a hit Kenyan police procedural and legal drama, co-produced with global broadcaster CANAL+ Group.

The first season of the show that premiered in February 2021 became the most popular among Showmax subscribers in Kenya and remained in the top spot for nine consecutive weeks.

The show was recently nominated for three Kalasha awards including; Best TV Drama, Best Lead Actor: Alfred Munyua and Best Lead Actress: Sarah Hassan.

Munyua and Hassan will reprise their lead roles in the second season.

Also returning are; Maqbul Mohammed, Paul Ogola, Brian Ogola, and Koome Kinoti.

Commenting on the decision to renew the show for the second season, Timothy Okwaro, MultiChoice Channel Director, East and Southern Africa said,

“Crime and Justice was a major milestone, not only as Kenya’s first Showmax Original but also as a representation of the industry’s growth, evidenced by the production quality and positive feedback from our audiences. Fans have been calling for a second season since its debut, so it’s only right to give our viewers what they want.”

Okwaro also gave a sneak peak into season two, saying;

“Season 2 promises more compelling crime stories, deep dives into Makena’s mysterious background and also answers whether Silas is still conflicted about what his moral decisions mean for his shifty networks.”

Filming is already underway for the second season.
