Inaugural TikTok Top Creators Awards 2022 was held over the weekend and Kenyan Creators won big in the coveted ceremony.
Drawn from Sub-Saharan Africa, 90 Creators congregated at the five-star Movenpick Hotel and residence to battle it out for the TikTok Creators Awards.
The nominees were stacked in three regions: Southern Africa, West Africa and East Africa, with each region having 30 nominees.
TikTok Top Creators 2022 Awards
The TikTok Top Creators awards were launched in December 2022.
In a statement from TikTok, the social media platform said the award is meant to celebrate creators…
“We have endeavoured to celebrate our awesome creators on and off the platform through the launch of the TikTok Top Creator 2022 Awards.”
Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Sub-Saharan Africa head of content programming said the award recognizes creativity.
“This award ceremony is TikToks way of recognising storytellers, creativity and the positive impact all creators bring to the TikTok community.” She said,
“With these inaugural awards, TikTok aims to give creators in Sub-Saharan Africa the recognition they deserve and to encourage them to tell the African story while spreading joy at all times. She added.

Kenyan content creator Natasha gwal emerged Best TikTok top creator East Africa.
Beautyby nita from Kenya emerged Runner Up Best TikTok top creator East Africa.
Dennis Ombachi Secures Overall Top TikTok Content Creator Award.
In the overall Top Creator Award across Sub-Saharan Africa, Self taught chef, Dennis Ombachi popularly known as the roaming chef from Kenya secured the trophy.
