Swahili actress Pretty Mutave known for her “Zari” role in the Swahili Soap Opera “Maza”, has passed on.
Mutave died while in Coast General Hospital earlier today after falling ill in March, her family has confirmed but didn’t share what she was suffering from. Citizen TV news anchors Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla, who direct the Maza and “Aziza”, broke the news on social media with Rashid saying:
“#Sisemikitu japo kazi ya mungu haina makosa lakini msiba hauna mazoea. @prettymutave kipaji chako kikawe nuru kwa malaika. Mola ailaze roho yako pema peponi inshallah. Heshima na kipaji chako vitadumu milele.”
“We had plans but God had better plans …Rest well. Rest with the Angels pretty. Inallilahi wa ina illayhi Rajiun,” added Lulu.
Industry players and fans took to social media to mourn the actress who will be remembered for playing roles in various Kenyan productions such as Aziza, Maza, Moyo and Kijakazi among others.

Lulu also revealed that she was set to act in a new upcoming series before her demise.
“5 days ago we were on set working on a project that was tailor-made for you by @iamibrachi …you were so excited about the project…i guess this was a way of calling it a wrap….The industry will surely miss you …you gave more than a 100% while on set…fare thee well pretty,” said Lulu.
Her death comes months after the passing of Papa Shirandula actor Charles Bukeko.
