Renown journalist Lolani Kalu is one happy man after Kenyans heard his plea and came to his rescue.
The former NTV reporter made headlines a week ago after his plight surfaced all over social media. From then on, Lolani has been at the receiving end of Kenyans’ goodwill.
Talking during an interview with Jalang’o yesterday, Lolani revealed that he had received over sh.270,000 from Kenyans who wanted to help get him back on his feet.
He revealed that he bought a camera with the money, which he hopes will be the start of something amazing in media once more.
“Nililipa hii camera Shillingi 270K, kila nikiiona hivi nalia yani wale mashabiki wangu ambao wanapenda vipindi vyangu walichanga pesa, hii camera si yangu ni ya ma fans wangu…hii sasa tutarecord na mafans wangu…nilitaka camera na computer, hivi tunavyo ongea kuna mtu ameninunulia MacBook Pro 14 inch. Sasa nah ii tuitaenda live and pia kurecord wengine pia for free,” he revealed.
His blessings are just beginning as during the live one hour show, hundreds of well-wishers stepped up once more and Lolani walked home with a total of ksh.128,000.
Lolani could not hold back his tears during the interview and he let them flow freely, saying they were tears of joy.
“Ni machozi ya furaha haya… Unajua mashab iki ndo wamenifanya mpaka nikaja Nairobi nikanunua camera,” he said in between tears.
He also revealed that he retired from NTV, not fired.
