SA currently requires Kenyan citizens to have a visa for South Africa from Kenya before travel. However, by introducing the electronic visa, South Africa greatly simplifies the process of getting a visa for Kenyan citizens.

You are also required to pay a fee of approximately 6000KES and then the visa will be emailed to you. The process before involved visiting the embassy, filling out paperwork, waiting in long lines to apply and getting the actual visa.
South Africa had more favourable requirements for other African countries such as Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Angola and others.
In 2018 the country scrapped short-term visa requirements for Kenyans travelling for studies, business and government duties.
