Kenyan singer Alisha Popat has expressed gratitude following a thrilling performance at the Voice Of Germany 2021.
The German-based artist performed on October 24 in front of a panel and managed to wow them with her vocals. Taking to social media hours later, Popat confessed that she was more than elated following the opportunity.
“Never in my wildest dreams could I believe that I would compete on a platform like this and get FOUR chair turns! I went in there with no expectations, just hope! I worked so hard for this opportunity and I am simply over the moon to be part of it,” she said.
The singer performed “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak and managed to impress the judges of the talent show. The show, which is in its 11th season now, has only seen a handful of Kenyans take stage since its inception in 2011.
Popat said that she didn’t take the opportunity lightly having worked so hard.
“I can’t believe it!! The biggest dream come true. Pinch me, because I still can’t believe this is real! I moved to Germany with no plan, no expectation amidst a pandemic. I decided to dive in deep, take a risk and jump right in! I started learning German and @grazie_a_roma pushed me to apply for the @thevoiceofgermany,” she said minutes before the show.
