Kenyan Reggae Singer Cathy Matete Receives Grammy Awards Nod

Reggae singer and songwriter Cathy Matete is getting more and more international recognition. Her song Lover’s Paradise is part of the album, which has been considered for the Best Reggae Album category in the upcoming 64th Grammy Awards.

The elated singer took to her Instagram account to celebrate this great news stating, “Beyond honored to be considered for “Best Reggae Album” for the 64th Annual Grammy® Awards! Grateful for all the support and love with my song “Lover’s Paradise” on Truthful Riddim.”

Cathy Matete has been on a steady rise to Kenyan Reggae Music royalty since debuting in the music scene. Her lyricality and amazing vocals have made her popular among fans. She recently received a Best Up and Coming Act award in the Caribbean Afro Music Awards that took place in the UK. Cathy’s music catalog is packed with fire tunes such as No Retreat, Get Lifted and Where Is The Love just to mention a few.

Truthful Riddim Album is a collaborative project that was produced by popular Reggae and Dancehall music producer Blaqk Sheep. It features singles from Julian Marley, Mr Vegas, RDX, Saine, Anthony B, D Burns, Benaissa, Turbulence, Avente, Ibo Faya, and Cathy Matete.

The Grammys is one of the most prestigious musical accolades in the world. The official nominees’ list of its 64th edition will be released on 23rd November 2021. The awards event is scheduled to take place on 31st January 2022.
