Lahani, the creative space for musical growth and discovery, is back!
Well, kind of.
We first wrote about Lahani’s ambitious plans for Kenya’s music scene, detailing founder Kibali Mureiithi’s vision, that it would be a space that would solve the perennial problem “how can we listen to the music from the artists we love, in a space that supports them?”
A special showcase will be taking place at Metta next week (28th July) and will feature artists such as
Aula – a musical outfit consisting of Kibali, Masika, Lelli, Mostin and Zushi. The name means ‘the best of’, in Swahili, which denotes their desire to transcend their limits. Their sound is a mix of RnB, Soft Rock, Taarab and Bongo. Kibali is the founder of Lahani.
Ayrosh – a singer-songwriter with a quirky personality, grit and copious amounts of charisma is also the force behind Folk Fusion.
Abbih and Ythera.
Metta breeds ideas and innovation so it seems like the perfect meeting of the minds. If you are a member of Metta, this event is free. Non members will pay 1000 shillings to join the space and begin to create and build their own individual networks. Doesn’t sound like a terrible way of spending a couple of hours on a Friday night!
See you there!
