Kenyan Film Commission Launches Ksh 2 million Script Writing Competition

The Kenya Film Commission (KFC), in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and the Kenya Film School have launched a Film Script Writing Competition.

The competition, which aims at facilitating growth of Kenyan film industry locally and in other markets such as Asia, will see the winner walk away with Ksh 2 million, and the script being pitched to international film producers for a chance to be developed into a film.

The competition will be done in two stages; competitors will first be needed to submit a snippet of their script in form of a PDF then shortlisted applicants will send the full script.

The applicants, who will be only Kenyan citizens, should own the rights to the script and required to submit only once. Kenya Film school students, employees of Ministry of ICT, their families and anyone related directly or indirectly to to these institutions are not eligible for the competition.

The prizes for the competition will be as follows:

Best Script – Ksh. 1,000,000
-1st Runner up – Ksh. 500,000
-2nd Runner up – Ksh. 300,000
Best student writer – (Under 25 years of age) – Ksh. 100,000
Best young writer – (18 years old and below) – Ksh. 100,000
