Kenyan Film “Bangarang” Debuts on Prime Video

Multi-award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and director Robin Odongo‘s film Bangarang has been taken up by Amazon Prime Video. This is a big deal especially because it is the first Kenyan film on the platform.

“Kenyan filmmakers continue to break new barriers. Join us in congratulating Mr Robbin Odongo for having his film #Bangarang – a product of the Commission’s #FilmEmpowermentProgramme.”

Kenya Fim Commission Twitter and Robin shared the news on social media on Monday 22nd of August urging people to go watch the movie.

“DID YOU KNOW… that BANGARANG is the 1st Kenyan film on Amazon Prime Video ? Our chances of taking more movies there depends on how many people watched BANGARANG. So this is my HUMBLE PLEA to all of you, kindly go to PRIME VIDEO and watch.”

The movie also won Best Human Rights film and dramatizes Kenya’s post-election violence in the past. Being from Kisumu; this is a time the director must have identified with.
Although negative it is a true reflection of events that took place in the country. We look forward to more Kenyan stories being watched globally.
