Kenyan Entertainers Excelling Overseas

For the longest time, Kenyan Athletes have been ambassadors of the Country showcasing the best talent Kenya has to offer.

However, there’s a new crop of Kenyan entertainers excelling outside our borders;

Achieng Agutu

Famously known as Confidence Queen, Achieng Agutu came to the limelight through short clips posted on her Instagram.

The videos are instant mood boosters, meant to uplift her followers and empower them with self-confidence.

Agutu was born and raised in Kenya and later moved to Richmond, Indiana to further her studies.

She has been featured in Vogue magazine.

She continues to posts motivational videos on her Instagram with over 350,000 followers.

Agutu is an ambassador for young aspirational girls, conveying her message through her speech, body language and outfits full of color and prints celebrating Africa.

Lupita Nyong’o

When Lupita Nyog’o debut in Shuga, the success that would ensue was unimaginable.

The 38-year-old is an acclaimed actor and voice-over artist.

Her roles in 12 years a Slave, for which she won several awards, including Academy Awards for supporting Actress propelled her to worldwide stardom.

Nakia in Marvels’ Black Panther and the lead role as Raksha in Jungle book, are just a few other roles she is involved in.

Lupita is an inspiration to young girls worldwide and has written a children’s book, Sulwe in celebration of Children of Color.

Elsa Majimbo

20-year-old comedian, Elsa Majimbo shot into the limelight in 2020, during the quarantine period, by making home-based funny videos.

Majimbo has since gotten major endorsement deals including; Beats by Dre, Mac cosmetics, Valentino, and Rihanna’s Fenty Campaign.
