Alicia Keys recorded “In Common” for her untitled sixth studio album that she’s currently working on. Seems Keys has been listening to a lot of African sounds since she posted a video of herself dancing to Wizkid’s Ojuelegba while being filmed by her husband Swizz Beats as In Common has a tropical music and dancehall sound, with an Afrobeat instrumental and electronic beats.
Now just a couple of days ago Alicia released remixes to the track and that included DJ Expect’s, a Kenyan DJ based in the U.S.
The Xpect Remix has an Afro Electronic sound that is quite catchy and could easily become a club favorite. Word is, Alicia Keys, Sony/RCA records reached out to him a few weeks ago for a chance to produce a remix for the album.
Alicia also reached out to Black Coffee for the remix. He won Best International Act Africa at this year’s BET Awards.
Swizz Beats ran a poll online on which remix was the best and Xpect led with 57% followed closely by Black Coffee with 30%. Here’s hoping that means good news for DJ Xpect.
