Kenyan DJ Poizon Ivy Becomes Official Music And Sound Coordinator At Basketball Africa League

Kenyan DJ Poizon Ivy who DJs for NBA team Dallas Mavericks has been named the official music and sound coordinator at the Basketball Africa League.

The news was first made public by senior NBA writer for ESPN Marc J Spears on Twitter.

“Congratulations to @dallasmavs and former @dallaswings @poiZonivytheDJ who is the official music and sound coordinator at the @theBAL. She is a native of Nairobi, Kenya and has spun at three NBA All-Star weekends,” wrote Spears.

Ivy replied saying: I’m coming home.

Real name Ivy Awino, she was born in Kenya but relocated to the US at the age of nine. She started DJing as a 19-year-old university student.

Ivy has been very successful in the US winning several awards in the process and even being listed in the annual edition of Forbes 30 Under 30 among the 2020 class of sports world’s brightest and youngest stars after becoming the first woman ever to DJ a National Basketball Association (NBA) all-star game.

She also one of the reasons why Kenyan music has been heard in several NBA games as always makes sure the arena gets a little taste of her culture.
