Kenyan Born Fashion Mogul Honored At The UK’s Black Magic Awards

Vanessa Kingori is a game changer – a fashion powerhouse who has risen to the top of the industry through talent, vision and sheer force of will.

Born in Kenya, Kingori actually grew up in the Caribbean before moving to London where she has consistently raised the bar – and her status, receiving the Media Mogul Award for her work as the head honcho of British GQ.

She is the first female Publisher of British GQ and the first black Publisher at Condé Nast UK.

Others honoured during the event included the singers Jamelia and Alesha Dixon, TV presenter Charlene White, entertainer Angie Le Mar, journalist/broadcaster Jasmine Dotiwala, and US musician Eve.

The Black Magic Awards are a way of paying tribute to inspirational black women within the entertainment industry – and features video stories charting their journeys and careers, as well as music and comedy performances.

Some of those presenting awards during this year’s ceremony included Richard Blackwood, Tiana Major, Rachel Kerr, Damage, Lurine Kato, Mina West and Dan Bosi.
