Kenyan Author, Makena Onjerika Among List For Caine Prize (Africa)

A Kenyan is in the running for this year’s Caine Prize for African Literature. 
Makena Onjerika’s book Fanta Blackcurrant goes against the works of five other authors from across the continent.

The Caine Prize is awarded for a short story by an African writer published in English, with an indicative length of between 3,000 to 10,000 words.
Last year, the award went to the Sudanese writer Bushra al Fadil, who became the oldest winner to take the prize.
The winner, who will bag over a million shillings, will be announced on the 2nd of July.
