On Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, Kenyan Athletes registered an excellent performance at the Meeting de Paris 2021 Diamond league.

About Meeting de Paris Diamond League

Meeting de Paris Diamond League is an annual track and Field meeting in Paris France.

The event is held annually in the month of July but was canceled in 2020 due to Covid 19 Pandemic.

This year’s edition was pushed to the end of August.

Wyclife Kinyamal secures first place in Men’s 800m

Wycliffe Kinyamal kicked off the good performance, seizing a win in Men’s 800m with a time of 1:43.94.

His teammate Ferguson Rotich, an Olympic Silver Medalist came in second in the same race.

Kenyan Athlete, David Rudisha holds the Meeting de Paris Record in the Men’s 800m race, set on July 6, 2012, with a time of 1:41.54.

Team Kenya with a clean Sweep in Mens 3000m Steeplechase

In the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase, 28-year-old Olympics Games Bronze Medallist, Benjamin Kigen secured first place with a time of 8.07.12.

Fellow Kenyan Athletes Abraham Kibiwot and Leonard Bett came in second and third respectively to secure a clean sweep in the race.

Margaret Chelimo came in third in Women’s 3000m

And in Women’s 3000m race, Margaret Chelimo came in third behind Burundian Niyonsaba and Ethiopian Taye.

The Meeting de Paris 2021 Diamond league brought a different vibe, with the presence of spectators observing Covid 19 measures, as opposed to the concluded Tokyo Olympics where Athletes for the first time competed in empty stadiums due to the Covid 19 outbreak.
