26 February of 2019 by

South by Southwest is the annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, music festivals and conferences that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. Dubbed as SXSW, an essential destination for global professionals.

The event features sessions, showcases, screenings, exhibitions, and a variety of networking opportunities for individuals in various professions – and this year, Kenyans will get to enjoy the priviledges .

Next month, 13th to 17th of March, Kenyan artists and DJs will share their talents while showcasing our music to a global audience, interact with over 2000 participants at the SXSW 2019 chapter.

This year, we have 7 musical acts representing Kenya including Khaligraph Jones, Blinky Bill, King Kaka, Naiboi, Victoria Kimani, Phy and Kagwe Mungai. DJs on the bill include Dallas based NBA jockey Poizon Ivy and Chicago based DJ Top Donn.

Besides hitting the stage and performing, being in that creative space should reap more benefits for the acts and we hope it will show when they come back and ripple the effect to the rest of the industry. We should also expect collaborations with international acts in terms of music or arts in general.
