Kenyans turned up in large numbers despite the rain and muddy situation that was at the RFUEA grounds just to support their own this past weekend for the Tusker Safari 7s 2019.
Shujaa tried their best even after Injera was forced out of the tournament due to an injury but unfortunately lost to South Africa in the cup semis. They however overcame Russia Academy 19-5 to win the bronze medal.
After losing 19-12 in the group stage to the South Africans, Kenyas Morans later thrashed them 19-14 to win the Safari 7s 2019 title, fans went wild as the final whistle went off. The Morans dominated the game during the first half as Okwach landed the first try of the game followed by a successful conversion by Olindi. J. Okwacha also scored a second try for the Morans before Alvin Otienos third try and successful conversion giving the Morans a Half Time lead of 19-0.
The South African boys tried their best to make it a tie during the second half with two tries and 2 conversions but couldn’t catch up. The Tusker Safari 7s joint top try and top point scorers were Morans Geoffrey Okwatch and South Africa’s Blitzboks Captain Siviwe Soyizwapi who was also the MVP for this years 7s series.
Congratulations to the Morans for a stellar performance!
