Kenya Jazz All Stars To Light Up International Jazz Day

Jazz is a continually growing niche within the musical consciousness of Kenyans – if the excitement in the build up to this event is anything to go by!

The Kenyan Jazz All Stars concert will open the 2017-2018 season of the Safaricom International Jazz Festival and will be headlined by:

Nairobi Horns Project
Shamsi Music
Mwai & The Truth
AfroSync
Edward Parseen and The Different Faces
Jacob Asiyo and Kavutha Mwanzia-Asiyo
James Gogo
Juma Tutu
Eddie Grey
Chris Bittok

Also performing at the Sunday afternoon show will be Ghetto Classics, who are quickly making a name for themselves within the region as some of the most musically gifted young groups.

And the whole world will be celebrating Jazz on the 30th of April! In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight Jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.

This year also marks a pretty solid 5 years of the International Jazz Festival.

Here’s hoping the weather holds up at the Carnivore – but even if it doesn’t, let the music play.

Tickets to the event are available at The Michael Joseph Centre, Safaricom shops and via M-Ticketing by dialing 1511.
