Kenya Film Commission Calling For Entries For ‘My Kenya My Story’

Kenya Film Commission (KFC) is calling for submissions for its “My Kenya My Story”  Mobile Phone Film Competition. The competition that targets filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and amateur film makers is seeking to inspire and showcase the creativity of Kenyan filmmakers from all walks of life.

The commission whose main mandate is to develop a vibrant local film and TV industry has been creating tons of opportunities for Kenyan filmmakers through various initiatives such as film competitions and film empowerment programs.

To participate in this contest, one must be a Kenyan and submit films produced in Kenya. As the name suggests, the film must be recorded using a mobile phone while still maintaining good quality. Only individuals of 18 years and above are eligible to make submissions. The films must be between 3-5 minutes long, can be of any genre but must obey the My Kenya My Story theme.

Participants are free to make as many submissions as they please however they must all be done before the 21st May 2021 deadline. Shortlisted participants will be notified on 1st June 2021 and the winners will be awarded on 25th June 2021.

According to the organizers, the following cash prizes are up for grabs:
Winner – Ksh 200,000
1st runner up – Ksh 150,000
2nd runner up – Ksh 100,000
