Kenya 7s Looking For S&C Coach

Kenya Rugby Union has advertised for the position of Kenya Sevens strength and conditioning coach ahead of 2017/2018 HSBC Sevens Series.

The need to on-board S & C coach comes after Ian Gibbons left the role in February just under three months into his appointment.

KRU says; “The appointed person will design, implement, conduct and monitor strength and conditioning programmes for the entire squad. The Strength and Conditioning coach will report directly to the Head Coach and to National Squads Management Committee through the Director of Rugby.”

KRU advertised for the same position in October 2016 after the expiry of Geoffrey Kimani’s contract. Gibbons came out tops taking up the post that had also attracted Kimani as well as Heyno Kraft from South Africa.

Even with Gibbons departure, Kenya 7s continued the series without S&C coach but time and again Kenya 15s strength and conditioning Richard Ochieng was called upon to fill the void.

The Strength and Conditioning Coach should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an S&C Coach in a division one club /Elite Squad.

Other requirements include relevant World Rugby qualifications in Strength and Conditioning, certification in coaching, demonstration of high ethical standards and integrity in his/her personal and professional dealings.

2017/2018 HSBC Sevens Series kicks-off in December with Dubai before action moves to Cape Town 7s, Sydney 7s and newly introduced Hamilton 7s.

The coming season also has commonwealth games and sevens world cup.
