Kenya Sevens will enter pre-season Monday, Jul 10, 2017, for pre-season ahead of 2017/2018 HSBC World Sevens Series.
KRU director of national squads and elite performance Ian Mugambi says they are currently finalizing on player and management contracts before training starts.
The Rugby Union is also finalizing on filling Strength and Conditioning coach vacancy that was left by Ian Gibbons earlier in the year.
“We are sorting contracts of players and management then fill vacant positions to have a smooth running,” said Mugambi.
The national sevens team kicks-off 2017/2018 campaign on Friday, December 1, 2017, with Dubai 7s. This will be 25 days after hosting Safari 7s which is set to be graced by some teams participating in sevens series as part of their preparations.
Apart from the 10 legs, the coming season will have Commonwealth games in April while Sevens World Cup is set for July 20 in the USA.
After Dubai 7s on Dec 2, sevens action will head to South Africa for Cape Town 7s on Saturday, Dec 9 before taking the long Christmas break.
With Wellington 7s out of the picture, Sydney 7s, hosted in Australia, has been slotted in as third stop of the 10-leg series on Jan 26 while newly introduced Hamilton 7s will be on Saturday, Feb 3.
American tour star starts on March 2 with three-day Las Vegas in the USA with Vancouver and Hong Kong 7s following on March 10 and April 6 respectively.
After Commonwealth games on April 14, Singapore 7s will follow on Apr 28 with last rounds, Paris and London Sevens, coming on Mau 26 and June 2.
