Julius Yego Breaks African Record With Magical Javelin Throw

At first, it looked like Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott was going to take home first place in javelin at Birmingham’s Diamond League Meet on Sunday. Then Nandi-native Julius Yego picked up his spear.

At first, Yego’s outstanding 91.39-meter throw was judged out of bounds. Then, 20 minutes after the Meet had concluded, the judges reversed their decision, making Yego become the new African as well as IAAF javelin record holder. Further, judges also declared Yego’s throw to be the best javelin throw in the world in almost 10 years.
