Former Citizen TV anchor Johnson Mwakazi has made a comeback after landing a job as the Head of a new TV station that will go live soon.
Mwakazi will take charge of the new station called TV 47 that is owned by Cape Media, a firm established by Mt Kenya University founder Prof Simon Gicharu.
Gichuru will be launching TV 47 after closing down Royal TV that used to operate in Kigali, Rwanda.
It will be the second start up TV station Mwakazi, who is a graduate of Daystar University and joined Citizen TV in April 2004, after working with RMS for over eight years, will be heading after he joined WTV which later shut down in December 2016.
Cape Media which is managed by his son, Kevin, also plans to launch Beats 47 radio station after operating radio and TV stations in Rwanda for three years. The station will focus on counties and corporates, a strategy similar to WTV’s.
TVs station in Kenyan have been popping up left right and centre but few have managed to stay afloat majorly because of immense competition from digital platforms.
