On her first day anchoring news on TV, Janet Mbugua chucked a good amount to look stylish and comfortable.
The former news anchor told Azziad in her “Shoe Game” Youtube series that she went big, spending Ksh 11,000 on shoes and an undisclosed amount on three suits while making her hyped debut in 2007 while in South Africa.
“One of the first pairs of shoes I ever wore as a news anchor in 2007, was worth Sh11,000,” she said.
“I kept them for a really long time but they served the purpose of news. They were really high heels, good quality and they helped with the posture.”
Mbugua, however, said she only did because it boosted her career. In the end, it helped.
“It was a painful experience because I wasn’t making that much money, but I had to invest in suits and shoes, three suits and that pair, but I kept them for like three or four years. So it paid off.” she said.
Before joining Citizen TV, Mbugua was working for South Africa’s eTV as a news anchor, reporter and producer of Pan-African current affairs.
