Jamaican Songstress and international sensation, Etana the strong One serenaded Nairobi this past weekend and she left a dope memory.
The 34-year-old was in the country for the 3rd time as demanded by her fans for the ‘Etana Returns’ concert which went down at the Uhuru Gardens – and over 3000 Reggae fans thronged the venue to rave.
The Reggae themed night had the place buzzing as early as 6 pm with various personalities gassing up the crowd backed by DJ sets. DJ Teeboy kicked off the party, followed by Gravity Band, DJ Moh Spice while Mcees Filippo and Talia Oyando kept the energy up.
Etana hit the stage at 1:30 am and the crowd went berserk with the welcome. Backed by her band, she kicked her set with ‘Queen of The Jungle’ extended chant version. She went on to perform songs like Jah Chariot, stepping out of Babylon, People Talk, Ganja Lover and Be By Your Side.
In true Jamaican spirit, she did renditions of other artists song like Don Penn, Bob Marley, Tarrus Riley and Busy Signal famous hits.
The biggest sing-along of the night came when Etana performed her hit songs like I Rise, Love Song, Weakness in Me and Step Up. There were various crowd melodies when singing Blessing where the ladies and gents outsang each other.
The crowd was very receptive, welcoming and sang their hearts for the 3 hours Etana was on stage. She had no problem finishing up lyrics and the crowd was her background vocals. Her music elicited all kinds of emotions among the fans securing her love from Kenya.
