Adelaine “Dela” Maranga has been in the game for almost a decade but her most notable efforts came after she was rebranded by her current label and management team Taurus Musik from Afro Soul to Afro Pop. Since November last year, her star has been shining brighter with every release.
Mafeelings was a head turner and as if to build up on that hype, she released the audio track to her cover of Adele’s already popular Hello. The difference between this cover and the millions that had been done? The fact that she translated it into Swahili and the fact that her vocals still carried the same passion and intensity that Adele’s did.
This same cover gained her international recognition. Although at first she had no plans of commercializing the cover, after seeing how successful it had become they obtained copyrights so it’s now available for sale.
After seeing all these international blogs write about her and some even saying her rendition was better than the original we all wondered if a video was on the way but then a month after she released Third Party Lover and just last week she released Ahadi Zako which sounds amazing. Quite honestly I’d given up hope for the Hello Swahili Cover video.
I happened to watch her one on One interview with Lillian Muli on Friday as she was releasing Ahadi Zako and she said that the Hello Swahili Cover video was coming but I didn’t know that it was this soon.
Scrolling through the Twitter streets today as is my norm I saw a link to the video. A somewhat “secret” release. The video is simple but classy and Dela looks beautiful in it. She looks as beautiful as she sounds.
