IN PICTURES: Day One of Africa Nouveau Festival

08 September of 2015 by

Under the theme “Africa is Now,” this past weekend saw the two-day Africa Nouveau Festival in Nairobi showcase some of the most innovative and trend setting artists on the continent. Couldn’t make it? Don’t worry. Our selection of pictures below will make you feel as if you did.

Day one in the music dome saw local band, The Red Acapella, have a great time on stage. Shortly thereafter, Yellow Light Machine, had everyone swooning and dancing to their cool sound.

The first international act of the festival was Ghanaian Jojo Abot, who showcased her experimental blend of afrobeat, electronica, jazz, house and reggae from her recent EP, FYFYAWOTO.

The beautiful, smart and talented CEO of Blankets and Wine, Muthoni The Drummer Queen, then set the stage on fire and shut the whole place down with a tremendously energetic performance. Stay tuned for photos from day two.
