I doubt I’ve known a film that has released as much buzz as Marvel’s Black Panther has, since it was announced to be a reality. Perhaps that’s because of the nature of the time we live in – social media has a way of blowing everything up (and bring other things down, just as quickly.)
But I’m excited.
An all black cast.
A huge budget.
And a bad ass back story about an ancient African kingdom known as Wakanda.
The cast was recently unveiled and includes Lupita Nyongo, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker and An gela Basset among others. Pretty heavy.
And now some of the images have been published – and seeing the actors in costume makes it even more real.
The set of stills comes from Entertainment Weekly, and Lupita will be playing a pretty prominent role in the upcoming film – as the protagonists main love interest Nakia.
The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and tells the story of T’Challa (played by Boseman), king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda, in his journey to take the throne as a head of state and a superhero simultaneously.
Marvel’s Wakanda is set for release on the 16th of February, 2018.
