Tusker OktobaFest 2022 finally went down at the Ngong Racecourse last weekend. Over 22,000 people thronged the venue to enjoy live performances from the over 100 performers in the line-up. This edition marked the climax of the East African Breweries Limited and Tusker’s 100-year anniversary celebration.
Beer and music lovers enjoyed 3 days of exhilarating live performances from over 100 Kenyan artists drawn from various regions. Some of the top acts who performed included both established and rising stars. They included Nyashinski, Khaligraph Jones, Chris Kaiga, Mejja, Nadia Mukami, Ndovu Kuu, Fena Gitu, Ssaru, and Maandy. In addition, the decks were manned by top spin masters such as Grauchi, Suraj, Most Wanted, Shawn, and Chopsticks among others.
The Tusker Nexters Grand Finale also took place during the Oktoba Fest. TK Lyon was crowned the winner while Zaituni and Bakhita scooped the 1st and 2nd runners-up positions respectively. The winner received a KES 1.5M cash price and a recording, management, and distribution deal worth KES 500,000. 1st runner-up got a KES 500,000 cash price and a recording, management, and distribution deal worth KES 400,000. Lastly, the 2nd runner-up was awarded a KES 250,000 cash price and recording, management, and distribution deal worth KES 150,000.
Apart from the artists and their fans, local businessmen also reaped big at the show by vending various products and services to the massive number of revelers. Some of the items sold included food, clothing body art, jewelry, and even a make-up booth, where festival-goers paid to get glammed up for the party.
