The nominees for the 13 edition of the prestigious Safaricom sponsored, gospel awards are officially out. The unveiling of this anticipated list was done yesterday evening at a red carpet event held at Mövenpick Hotel Nairobi.
Odi Dance hitmaker Jabidii scored the most nominations bagging 7 slots in the nominees’ list with nominations such as Song of the Year and Teens Choice Song of the Year among others. He is closely followed by Narudisha singer Gloria Muliro who has 6 nominations such as, Song of the Year and Praise and Worship Song of the Year among others.
Other artists who have been nominated include Moji Short Baba, Guardian Angel, David Wonder, Mercy Masika, Eko Dydda and Recapp among others. The public was involved in the nomination process and 143,684 submissions were received according to the Groove panel, Chairman Charles Kairu.
Public voting will begin at 10 am on Friday 8th June 2018 and will run until midnight on 23rd June 2018. Fans will be able to vote via SMS by sending the word Groove followed by the nominee code to 811 or by dialling *811# and following the prompts, or via the website www.grooveawards.co.ke.
Under the theme, “Rebuild, Restore, Reclaim,” this year’s winners will be announced on 24th June 2018 at the Gala Awards ceremony, to be held in Nairobi.
According to the organizers, a winner’s concert will be held shortly after the awards ceremony on 8th July 2018 at The Embu Municipal Council Stadium where all winners will get a chance to meet and appreciate their fans and also celebrate their wins as they appreciate their support during the nomination and voting process.
