In case you are not familiar with the Freshmen series, let me explain: The idea was borrowed from XXL magazine, in search for the hottest break out hip hop artist in the USA, and they have managed to point the world to some of the biggest names in the game like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and Fetty Wap.
In the 254, we have our own list titled ‘Jump Off Freshmen’ that follows the same module of seeking the hottest rappers and giving them a proper head start in terms of Air play and exposure on HBR.
The 2017 list is out, the 5th edition of the series and its standing to be a force in shaping the 254 culture. The leaders of the new school represent the unconventional artist who are breaking barriers and knocking down doors to the inhospitable scene.
The cats are finding the spotlight through the internet and Mixtape freestyles and mainstream media is gravitating towards them.
The team handling the 254 Freshmen settled in 6 guys who got a fresh sound, spirited excellence, and hardworking bunch. Here are the names that made the list and we shall be coving them extensively on our musical review.
Steph Kapela- We all know his return to the 254 from the States was well received.
Tunji- Repping his hood 125 Rongai, this is his break out record.
Barak Jacuzzi- Under the wings of Octopizzo, Barak is set for the industry.
