Internationally-acclaimed and award-winning film; ‘Nairobi Half Life’ is set to be available on Netflix.
Starting Friday, Oct. 21st 2022, the film, an entry for the Best Foreign Language at the 85th Academy Awards will be available on the streaming platform.
Announcing on Twitter, Netflix Kenya wrote;
“Get ready to watch this amazing talents on #NairobiHalfLife, launching 21st of October.”
Nairobi Half Life 10th Anniversary
The film’s addition on Netflix comes after turning 10.
The film first premiered in Kenya on September 2nd, 2012 to packed cinemas in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.
To celebrate the film’s release and success, MyMoviesAfrica through their partnership with iHub and Yakwetu screened the crime feature film.
The cast and crew were in attendance for the special screening.
The cast and crew revealed how the film changed their lives, opening doors for them and enabling them to leave full-time jobs in other areas and get into film-making full-time in more capacities such as writing, directing, production and teaching.
Director David Tosh Gitonga said the film opened doors for him.
“It opened a lot of doors not just for me, but also young upcoming creatives to believe that they could do something like that. So Nairobi Half Life sits on my forehead.”
