How To Get Funding For Your Upcoming Film Project

Docubox is calling for submissions for its 2021 Grants to Filmmakers project. The organization prides itself on being East Africa’s only documentary film fund. Apart from grants, Docubox has other film projects such as Docubox Screenings, Film Training, ‘Shorts, Shorts & Shots’ and Docubox Exchange Program.

Grants to Filmmakers will be the largest film funding call yet from this organization which seeks to empower talented, driven, focused and accountable East African filmmakers to produce good quality and authentic films. The grants to be offered are ranging between $2,500 – $25,000. The film categories up for this grant are as follows:

  1. Feature Length Documentary (60-90 Minutes)
  2. Short Documentaries (3-20 Minutes)
  3. Experimental Hybrid Films
  4. Short Fiction Film

To qualify for the grant, one must be an independent Kenyan filmmaker. Submissions must be made by registering and uploading works on Docubox’s portal here. Participants will also be required to attach links to their previous works as amateur filmmakers are not eligible for this grant.

Selected films will be announced on 20th September 2021. Are you looking for funding for your next film project? Well hurry and make your submission before the 20th August 2021 deadline. Wishing you all the best.
