From Kisumu To The World: Introducing Former Ohangla Artist Gabiro Mtu Necessary

Here at KV we love discovering new Kenyan musicians and this year we are discovering and featuring some fire ones whose music we love just as much as their stories.

With close to a dozen releases out there, Gabiro got on our radar when he was pushing his previous song Kus Kus to get to a certain number of streams after which he promised to release another banger. The next and latest banger is titled, iYAiYAiYA. What stands out when you listen to Gabiro Mtu Necessary is how catchy and simple the songs are. The lyrics are fun, clean, and uplifting too. The beats no doubt make you want to get down.

“iYAiYAiYA” is, in Gabiro’s own words, “a simple party vibe to my day one, those who knew when I started out as a singer in a traditional Ohangla band.”

The party song comes after earlier outings “Chances” (Joyner Lucas Devils Work cover), “Kus Kus”, as previously mentioned, that got recognition from Nigerian artist Korede Bello, “Bad Girl Loving”, “Seche Rach” and Daima Mjinga which was a dancehall backup of King Kaka’s  “Wajinga Nyinyi”.

Gabiro’s diversity has seen him transit from not only being a rapper but also being the best lyricist as is evident in his current releases. He portrays himself as the best export from the lakeside town of Kenya; Kisumu city.

Gabiro also has verified Facebook and Instagram accounts which he uses to push his music and other music-related content.

In June, the lyricist got a chance to perform at One Vibe Africa’s Madaraka Fest.
