Former Miss World Kenya, Roshanara Ebrahim has been crowned the Miss Universe Kenya 2021. The elated model and TV host took to her social media to share the news of her win where she wrote, “I feel an immense amount of love and am so grateful for the honorable opportunity to represent Kenya in Israel on the Global stage this December. I vow to continue to give my All.”
Roshanara’s story is one of persistence as she had previously auditioned For Miss Universe in 2018 but didn’t make it to the final 20. Furthermore, her reign as Miss World Kenya in 2016 was cut short by a controversy surrounding leaked nude photos which later led to her dethronement.

Despite the setbacks, Roshanara still auditioned for Miss Universe 2021 and won. She is now the first Kenyan to have held both the Miss World Kenya and Miss Universe Kenya titles. The Beyond The Darkness Author hopes to use the Miss Universe title to inspire positive change and encourage women to explore their full potential.

The other nine contestants for the Miss Universe Kenya 2021 were Charity Wijass, Deborah Asiko, Doreen Akinyi, Esther Ochieng, Maren Clera, Maymuna Abdi, Olivia Njoroge, Paskaline Jebet, and Sheila Agola.
Miss Universe Kenya is the national precursor to Miss Universe, in which selected judges choose a winner to represent the country at the international Miss Universe pageant. This year’s edition will be taking place in December in Israel. This will be the 70th edition of the prestigious annual beauty contest.
