Film Producer Dorothy Ghettuba Appointed New Kenya Film Commission Chairperson

Sumu La Penzi producer and Spielworks media CEO Dorothy Ghettuba Pala has landed a state job to head the Kenya Film Commission (KFC). This appointment comes weeks after Netflix appointed her to be the Manager, International Originals for Europe, Middle East and Africa, where she will be based in Amsterdam.

Dorothy’s presidential appointment to lead KFC will run for 3 years starting this month. She takes over the leadership of the commission’s board after entrepreneur and former radio and TV host  Christopher K. Foot.

The Kenya Film Commission was established in 2005 to develop a vibrant local film and TV industry and market Kenya as a preferred filming destination for sustainable wealth and job creation. The KFC led by its CEO Timothy Owase congratulated Dorothy Ghettuba on her appointment on twitter saying:

Dorothy’s vibrant film production career speaks for itself boasting of amazing productions such as Lies That Bind, Higher Learning, Jane & Abel and Sumu La Penzi among others. She is also the co-founder of Keja TV an online social video entertainment platform targeting East Africans.

We wish her all the best in this appointment.
