Athletes Awarded ANOCA Scholarship

The list of Athletes awarded the scholarships are 100m Africa record holder Ferdinand Omnayala, 1500m World Leader Abel Kipsang as well as 5000m World and Commonwealth Games silver medallist Margaret Chelimo.

Other Athletes awarded are: 5000m marathoners Nicholas Kimeli and Jacob Krop as well as Beatrice Chebet and Charles Simwoto.

Details of the ANOCA Scholarship

The sponsorship will boost top-level athletes in their preparation and qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Each of the scholarship holders will receive $1000 a month from now until August 2024.

The scholarships include specialized coaching services, equipment, local and overseas training, regular medical assistance, monitoring and other items that would assist to focus on their journey to prepare and qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Ferdinand Omanyala comments on $1000 a month scholarship

Speaking during the presentation of the scholarships, Ferdinand Omanyala said;

“I will be lying if I say I expected this.”

He added, “This means Paris 2024 is just a blink away.

I want to make my country proud and continue inspiring the nation.” He said.

The 100m sensation thanked NOC-K for the opportunity.

Beatrice Chebet receives the scholarship as she prepares for a Commonwealth and World Championship debut.

“As an athlete, you’re always privileged to get any kind of support and to know I can now get some funds to train, go to championships and get more confident in my races.” She commented.
