New York Africa Fashion Week is over since long, but that doesn’t mean that its relevancy ceases.
In a news report released by Voices of America (VOA) Monday, Kenyan-born fashion designer Hilda Mauya of Dahil Republic of Couture Fashion House joins several other African designers in a conversation about style, New York City and the power of fashion.
“All women are powerful. Every woman has to tap into their power and you can do that through fashion,” Mauya says in the VOA report. “When you wear your favorite outfit, your self-esteem goes up, your confidence goes up and you walk taller. That’s powerful. That’s sophisticated.”
