Setting up your calendar of events for the year? As you narrow down your must-attend, here’s what you don’t want to miss out on! Have them circled in RED on your calendar if you need to.
Tribal Chic
It’s one of my favourite events when it comes to the Fashion Social Calendar! Held annually at The Tribe Hotel, this showcases some of up and coming designers, as well as household names in the fashion world- a must attend. Last year, a pop-up market was introduced on the weekend of the show and a couple of vendors got a chance to display their wares at the hotel. This was a fantastic idea and I hope they continue with the same this year.
Kenya Fashion Awards
Set up to honour Kenyan Talents who have made a significant contribution to the fashion industry; from designers to photographers, models to stylists, make-up artists to choreographers, writers, and fashion & design students. This awards recognizes the most influential people in Fashion today and celebrates the development of Fashion Industry. Taking place over multiple days, the awards include a two weeks exhibition of Fashion Photography, Designers and Exhibitors. Although the nominees’ list isn’t out yet, they are already taking applications for designers and photographers for their exhibition. Check it out here.
Fashion High Tea
Every year in February, the Zen Garden hosts the most fashionable High Tea event celebrating Haute Couture in Kenya. Consisting of high profile guests and personalities, the Fashion High Tea is always Sold Out! Love for a Cause seems to be their theme this year and I’m curious to see which charity they’ll be donating the proceeds to, as is their tradition. The date is set for this year’s offering, February 25th. Save it and check them out on Facebook for more details.
Nairobi Fashion Week
This year will mark 5 yrs celebrating Africa’s diverse creative and cultural heritage. Nairobi Fashion Week brings together fashion designers and creatives from across the continent to showcase the best African models, designers and their designs. From Runway shows to pop up shops, exhibitions and red carpets, it’s always abuzz with activity. And very pocket-friendly to attend!
