Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire in The 254

Walshy Fire who is part of the American Electronic Music group is in the 254 on a very interesting mission. Now, Major Lazer is comprised of Walshy Fire, Diplo and Jillionaire and they are known world over for their elite cross-genre mixing including dancehall, Hip Hop, and moombahton. They’ve had worldwide hits like “Light It Up”, “Lean On”, “Bumaye” and “Cold Water” with various artist and 254 hosting Walshy is a big fete for tourism and music in general.

Walshy Fire is in Kenya to film a TV Show trying to connect dots of his personal life as a Dj/record producer and that of mother Africa and its heritage. Finding Africa is the probable title of the Show where little nuggets of unique cultures will be highlighted as the journey proceeds. The production will showcase the other side of what mainstream media reports about Africa and Walshy’s interaction with the streets. He wishes to convey an appreciation of the continent as a descent that lives away. The show will have cutaways of parties in Nairobi and Addis Ababa, the two cities he will be visiting.

Hitting a radio interview with radio host G-Money, he let the cat out of the bag that an album is in the works. Compelling enough, he is working hard to fill up the missing link between African acts and international acts. The 8 track project will be a collaborative effort between African and Caribbean artists. The advantage is that Major Lazer as a sound system plays for huge crowds in multiple festivals hence the much-needed exposure to the African acts will be humongous.

He played a sneak preview of the album with mind blowing sound, production elements, and unthinkable collabos. On the project, you can expect these heavyweights:

Bunji Garlin (Trinidad) and Ketchup (Nigeria) -No Laziness

Demarco (Jamaica) and Ice Prince (Nigeria) – Round Of Applause

Alkaline (Jamaica) and Runtown (Nigeria)

Wurld (Nigerian) – Show You Off

Walshy will be sourcing for authentic Kenyan sounds that can feature on his future projects and he states that his ears will be on the streets to know which artists he can work with.

Kenyans acts it’s your time to rise to the occasion and show what you can offer for future business collaborations.
