The Party Animal Charley black is set to hit the stage in Nairobi’s Afro Night Club on the eve of Madaraka day. This will be the first time the dancehall singjay steps in Kenya and the city is ready for him. Here is what you should know about him before you get to the concert.

Charley Black kicked off his singing career at the age of 5 when he delivered impromptu presentations in school idolizing the legend Bounty Killer. Fast forward to his first hit, ‘Woman It’s You’ came in 2004 and that put him on the map.

Black cut his teeth in the music industry at the infamous Jamaican sound system Bass Odyssey where he was a selector. That means he used to perform every single night, making the crowd move and love the dance.

In most of his music, his signature, It’s Chaaarleyy from Trelawny’ means that he is very proud of his hometown, Trelawny a Parish in Jamaica that is considered countryside.

The 38-year-old musician has 1 Album (Multi-Talented 2013) and 1 EP (Best Whine Riddim).

With a unique voice, Charly stands out when he is featured on a riddim or a collaboration and he automatically churns hit songs. Among his hit songs include Sweetness Touch, Happiness, Par With Girl, Attention Seeker, Jesus Police Record, Girlfriend, Mi Nuh Fraid, Tan Tuddy, Nuh Keep funny Friend, Wine and Kotch and the biggest song of his career Party Animal.

Party Animal was released in 2004 off the Jambe An Riddim by DJ Kurt Riley. The jam sold over 2500,000 records getting the mark of certification Diamond in Central America. This was also his crossover hit such that he could tour America off the strength of that jam.
